If your pet appears to be missing skills there are two common reasons that they may be missing.
Missing Pet Skill from Hotbar: It's likely that it's only the hotbar shortcut that is missing. You can access your pet's spell/skill book by doing the following:
Summon your pet, then open your spellbook (P by default). At the bottom of the spellbook will be two tabs, one for your character and one for the pet. Click on the pet tab, then drag any missing abilities to the pet's hotbar.
Learning New Pet Skills:
When you are ready to train your pet in a new skill, please remember the following:
* Hunters: When you visit the pet trainer, the trainer only teaches you the new skill. You must use “Train Beast” in order to teach this new skill to your pet; it will not automatically know it.
* Warlocks: After you purchase a Grimoire, you must have the correct demon out in order to “right-click” and teach skills to your demon.
